Muay Thai fighters battle for championship titles in St. Pete

Recent interviews with fighters participating in two important upcoming fights revealed why they are gaining a lot of attention in the Tampa Bay’s martial arts community. The USA Super Lightweight ISKA Muay Thai Championship Title USA Super Lightweight ISKA Muay Thai Championship Title USA Super Lightweight ISKA Muay Thai Championship TitleUSA ISKA Super Lightweight Muay Thai Championship Title and theUSA Super Lightweight ISKA Muay Thai Championship Regional Southeast ISKA Super Welter Weight Muay Thai Championship Title are expected to be must see fights on Saturday, December 8th, 2012 at the Police Athletic League in St. Petersburg, Florida. The interviews between the participating fighters and the Tampa Bay MMA Examiner revealed more about them and the importance of these fights.

Mark Bevaqua 31, at 6’1” and training under Olando Rivera (Warrior Camp) will fight Bryce Lawrence 24, at 5’10” and training under Crafton Wallace (Inferno MMA) for the USA ISKA Super Lightweight Muay Thai Championship Title. These two fighters faced each other before in the ring two years ago in a fight that resulted in a decision win for Bevaqua. Lawrence with a 7-2 record says he has been training hard for this fight and intends to win. Bevaqua stated he was “real confident” and that Lawrence is a “tough guy and it won’t be an easy win for anyone…it is going to be a WAR!” Lawrence and Bevaqua both consider this fight to be very important for their future. Lawrence who has career aspirations to “go pro” after a victory in this fight and Bevaqua who has his eye on a world title shot.

Fans can expect to see more impressive fighting in the match for the Regional Southeast ISKA Super Welter Weight Muay Thai Championship Title between Imran Haddabah 17, at 6’1” 153 lbs and training under Ali Tareh (Fight Fitness Center) and Blake Villarreal 16, at 5’8” 153 lbs and training under Paul Maslar (Sovos MMA). Haddabah thanks his uncle for his start in martial arts at the age of 13. He is set to fight for this title and stated that he is motivated by the “fun” the sport offers. He said he looks at this title shot as a “once in a lifetime opportunity” on his road to a professional career in the sport. Haddabah said “I have all I need to win. I have a great coach” when asked if he was confident about his ability to win the title.
